Dear Friends, Cultural Creatives and Seekers Everywhere,
Be like the tree, change your leaves and keep your roots… Change your ideas and keep your principles!
― Tibetan proverb
Principles are fundamental truths that serve as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior. Principles are the fundamental source that controls the beliefs and behaviors that govern the character of our lives.
The Newsletter videos for this and for the last few months have been focused on understanding the biological and behavioral relevance of the ancient Seven Hermetic Principles. These principles define the nature of our relationship with the Universe’s mechanisms and how they shape the character of our lives.
I first began offering insights into the science of the Biology of Belief in the late 1980’s. Since then, the presentations have been filled with large numbers of scientific “principles” covering the mechanisms of quantum physics, epigenetics, behavioral programming, and psychology. With hundreds of life-defining principles, I could probably produce many Newsletter videos that would span years of monthly communications. To save time and get to the point, in the last few years my lectures have emphasized what I believe are two overriding and fundamental belief principles.
Two Biology of Belief Principles
Below, I emphasize the profound meaning of these two principles in this one short Newsletter. Attached are two slides I use in my presentations to illustrate these fundamental life-influencing principles.
(1) The Einstein Quote:

In my presentations, I show that every time I sprinkle iron filings on to a piece of paper it results in a random pile of these particles. However, when I place a magnet under the paper and then sprinkle the filings, the particles always form the unique pattern conforming to the shape of the invisible magnetic field. This simple experiment illustrates Einstein’s principle that invisible energy “fields” govern the structure of matter.
When employed as a principle of the Biology of Belief, this illustration reveals how intangible energy forces, such as consciousness and spirit, are fundamental in shaping the character of our physical lives. In consciously applying this principle, we are empowered to become creators of our life experiences, and not victims of random, uncontrolled life-shaping events.
(2) The Function of the Mind.

My cell cloning experiments in 1967 revealed that the environment (the culture medium) controls the cell’s genetics. Our bodies are the equivalent of a skin-covered culture dish containing around 50 trillion cells. The blood is the body’s “culture medium.” As in the cell culture experiment, the chemistry of the blood environment “controls” the genetic activity of our cells through a process referred to as epigenetics.
The fundamental question concerning the fate of our cells (healthy or diseased) is what controls the blood’s chemistry. The answer is that the brain is the source of that chemistry. This leads to the final and most important question, “What chemistry should the brain put into the blood?” The answer is again, profound. The brain translates our consciousness into complimentary chemistry. For example, a picture of love in the mind causes the brain to release dopamine (pleasure), oxytocin (bonding), and growth hormone (enhances body health) into the blood, all of which leads to vibrant health and happiness. However, if the mind holds a picture of fear, instead of “love” chemistry, the brain release stress hormones that shut down the system’s growth and immune functions and prepares the body for flight or fight behaviors.
The simple conclusion is that the brain translates our thoughts into biological responses that complement the beliefs we hold in our minds. With pictures of love in the mind, the body thrives. In contrast, with pictures of fear in our mind we shut down growth and prepare for life-inhibiting threats. The Buddha summarized this whole process 2,500 years ago in a simple offering, “What we think, we become.” The function of the mind is to translate our beliefs into reality by programming our behavior to match our thoughts.
The new science reveals that each of us is a powerful creator and we must shed our programmed belief that we are victims of a world outside of our control. Are you focusing on the fear or on the future? Simply, “What are you thinking!” Realize consciousness, via the brain’s secretions, is creating our reality. These are the two fundamental principles that shape the action of The Biology of Belief.
With Peace, Love, and wishes for your Health and Harmony,
