Hello Dear Friends, Seekers and Cultural Creatives,
Fifty years ago in 1975 (to me, “yesterday”), there was a TV show entitled “Kung FU,” starring actor David Carradine. In the series, when Carradine reviews his life as an aspiring Shaolin monk, his mentor referred to him as “Grasshopper,” signifying a student or novice in a philosophical or martial arts.
As one of his mentors, I frequently address my nephew Alex as “Grasshopper,” for fun, yet more importantly, out of respect for his mission of acquiring skills that will enable him to help people enhance their lives with connection to consciousness and spirituality.
I truly appreciate how Alex is moving into his role as a positive force, an “influencer” in planetary evolution. We work together in producing the videos we share every month. So, I asked him to write this month’s introductory newsletter. I gave him an “A” on this assignment, so, Alex, take it away …
Dear Imaginal Cells and Cultural Creatives,
Now more than ever, we are being called to remember our humanity. The world as it is—and most likely will be “until further notice”—is filled with challenges, division, and uncertainty. And yet, this is precisely why qualities such as compassion, empathy, forgiveness, and understanding are not optional—they are essential.
As divisions grow, let us hold space for unity and wholeness. Let us resist the pull of polarization and instead anchor ourselves in the deeper truth that we are not separate, but expressions of a greater whole.
This month, we are sharing a new video on the Seventh Hermetic is a word charged with controversy and polarization today. But in Hermetic philosophy, gender is not simply about men and women, or about societal roles. It is a principle of creation itself—the interplay of masculine and feminine energies that give rise to everything in existence.
When we reduce this principle as representing polar opposites it results in conflict or opposition, and we have missed the point. Traits, such as good-bad, white-black, male-female, are not separate entities, but represent polar characteristics on a single spectrum. As Uncle Bruce frequently emphasizes, the best place to be in a spectrum is in the midpoint between the traits. In the case of the gender spectrum, we should recognize that both male and female characteristics are the opposing “ends” of the spectrum, while perfect balance is to be found in the midpoint of those ends. The “center” wisdom in a spectrum is about unity—the collaboration of opposites. Divine masculine and divine feminine are not adversaries. They are complementary forces, each incomplete without the other, and together forming the wholeness of life.
We must hold both polar views simultaneously: the importance of compassion and respect in how we navigate the human conversation on gender today, and the timeless spiritual insight that harmony comes from balance.
I encourage you to watch our new video and reflect not only on how these principles show up in the cosmos, but also how they live within us. The more we integrate polar perspectives, the more we become agents of peace and coherence in the outer world.
With love, unity, and wholeness,
Alex Lipton

Bruce’s Spotlight
Years of lecturing around this beautiful planet have provided me an opportunity to encounter wonderful Cultural Creatives that are helping to bring harmony into the world. Each month, I want to honor these cultural creatives by sharing with you the gifts they have shared with me.

This month, I’d like to introduce you to someone who may not need an introduction. Margaret and I got to spend some time with our dear friends Deva Premal and Miten in Costa Rica this summer. We were delighted to hear them share their music with the community several times. Also, Deva shared her beautiful song and new video with us, Ide Were Were, and I’d like to share that with you today. Deva’s music is heart opening, and this song honors Ochun, the Yoruba goddess of fresh water, often associated with fertility, beauty, sweetness, and sacred feminine power. Enjoy.
Thank you for your beautiful music that brings harmony to our world, Deva Premal!
